The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Honourable Ignatius Baffuor Awuah has lauded Management and Local Union representatives of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), for their collaborative efforts towards meeting the welfare needs of staff of the Agency.
The Minister was speaking at a short ceremony to mark the signing of the much-anticipated Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Management and Staff Union of the Agency in Accra on Friday 16th April 2021.
He dismissed the notion that Unions are generally a nuisance at the work place. He was of the view that they rather serve a useful purpose that, more often than not, inure to the benefit of organisations.
The Honourable Minister promised to use the Agency as reference in agitations and misunderstandings between organisations and their unionised bodies.
The Minister approved the CBA, and signed on behalf of the Ministry while the Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong and his team signed on behalf of the Agency.
Mr. Bernard Adjei, General Secretary of the Public Sector Workers Union (PSWU) and Madam Pearl Broohm, YEA Local Union Chairperson signed for the Union.
Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong, thanked the Minister for his immense support and interest in the activities of the Agency over the past four years. He pledged to work with the Union to achieve desired objectives of the Agency.
